Lijiang’s offbeat newcomer, Land of Wilderness (Huangye zhi Guo), has sparked a wild divide: some visitors say it’s “too scary,” while many Gen-Zers claim they can’t stop lingering. 🎭🌿
Located near Lijiang’s old town, this art-park was built by “wild architect” Qiao Xiaodao using discarded tires, fan blades, metal barrels, and scrap — turning trash into dozens of eccentric mini-structures like the “Samurai Wild Grass,” “Nomad Drifters,” the Leaky Rain Museum, treehouse cafés, and the Yunzhu restaurant. 🏚️✨
But not all its sculptures land well. Recently, social media users flagged disturbing installations like a “human centipede” and “three-faced girl” as visually unsettling. 😨 The park responded quickly, issuing a public apology and saying some controversial pieces have been removed.
Still, the vibe remains magnetic for many young travelers. Fans praise the dreamy, post-apocalyptic aesthetic, its 审美多样化 (diverse aesthetics), and that “fever dream” atmosphere that feels straight out of a surreal fantasy. “It feels like walking through a living painting,” one visitor wrote. 💫
Admission is around ¥80 for adults (and ¥40 for discounts). Whether you see a weird nightmare or a wild wonder — it’s definitely a trip.
👉 Would you visit this place, or is it too creepy for your taste? 😏
