Sichuan Farm Now Lets You “Steal” Sugarcane for 9.9 RMB… and Yes, a Dog Will Chase You 🐕🌾

Only in China will a farmer reinvent his entire business by letting people pay to “steal” sugarcane — and somehow make it a hit 😂🌾.

Only in China will a farmer reinvent his entire business by letting people pay to “steal” sugarcane — and somehow make it a hit 😂🌾.

A sugarcane grower in Meishan, Sichuan has launched a 9.9 RMB “steal-the-sugarcane” game that runs 24 hours a day. The rules? If you escape the field without getting caught, you get your sugarcane for 9.9 RMB (about $1.4). If you do get caught, you pay 14.9 RMB (about $2.1) — a tiny “penalty” that makes everyone scream-laugh 🤣. And to boost the drama, the farmer brings a dog into the field to chase participants just enough to recreate that childhood adrenaline rush 🐕💨.

People LOVE it — on a single night, he now sells 500–600 sticks, compared to the ~50 he used to move through traditional wholesale.

The idea started during a livestream when viewers joked that sugarcane “tastes better when stolen,” and dozens said they’d actually pay to experience it again. So the farmer turned nostalgia into a business model 😭✨.

Behind the fun is real strategy: he manages 10 hectares of sugarcane, and with wholesale prices stuck at 2–3 RMB per stick, margins were tiny and unsold stock was a constant headache. This “legal stealing” experience solves the sales problem and taps perfectly into a bigger trend — stressed-out city people craving safe chaos, countryside vibes, and a tiny moment of rebellion 😌🌾.

Only in China: nostalgia, cardio, and agriculture… all bundled into a 9.9 RMB adventure.
