Maison Margiela Releases "ANONYMITY" Film for AW2026, Starring Rebecca Hall as Masked Alter Egos

Maison Margiela's AW2026 film "ANONYMITY" stars Rebecca Hall as an actress confronted by masked alter egos, launching in stores from September 9.

Maison Margiela has released an advertising film titled "ANONYMITY" (当她不再是她) to present its autumn-winter 2026 collection. Directed by Thibaut Grevet and shot by photographer Nick Knight, the film is styled as a trailer for a non-existent psychological thriller. It stars British-American actress Rebecca Hall as an actress who, during rehearsals, encounters a series of masked alter egos. The artisanal masks were handcrafted in Maison Margiela's Paris atelier. Creative direction carries the imprint of John Galliano, with Olivier Dahan also credited among collaborators.

The collection itself draws on Edwardian silhouettes rendered through distressed tapestries, material patchwork, and second-skin structures. Signature house codes are present throughout: Bianchetto white lacquer finish garments, the Link handbag, vacuum-molded chain jewelry, and Tabi shoes covered in floral tapestry. The collection launched in Maison Margiela's offline stores and on its official website from September 9, 2026, following its debut at a Shanghai show in April 2026.

The "ANONYMITY" project extends the house's longstanding relationship with anonymity and masquerade as conceptual frameworks — themes embedded in the Margiela identity since its founding. Presenting a collection through the language of cinema, complete with genre conventions and a named cast, positions the film as a standalone cultural object rather than a conventional lookbook.
