Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster Release Fourth Eyewear Collaboration With 68 Designs and Alex Prager Campaign Film

Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster launch their fourth eyewear collection with 68 deconstructed designs and a short film by director Alex Prager.
Maison Margiela (梅森·玛吉拉) and Gentle Monster (姿美) have launched their fourth collaborative eyewear collection, comprising 68 designs — 43 sunglasses and 25 optical glasses — built around the deconstruction of conventional eyeglass silhouettes and structures.
The collection's design vocabulary includes exaggerated proportions, deformed frames, compressed and reshaped forms shown in an apparently unfinished state, oversized silhouettes, narrow leather-wrapped frames, and Maison Margiela's signature four white stitches applied to eyewear. Special material treatments are used throughout the range to reinforce the house's characteristic anti-finish aesthetic.
To mark the October 29, 2026 launch, the two brands commissioned artist and filmmaker Alex Prager to direct a promotional short film. The film follows a protagonist moving through shifting urban scenes with a stream-of-consciousness narrative structure. Limited-time offline retail spaces are running concurrently across eight cities.
The collaboration sits within a broader pattern of luxury and streetwear-adjacent brands using long-running, iterative eyewear partnerships to extend creative identity beyond apparel — with each successive drop deepening the visual language rather than simply refreshing colorways. Commissioning an art-world filmmaker to anchor the campaign positions the collection as much within contemporary visual culture as within seasonal fashion.
