Hangzhou Gets Its “Most Beautiful Starbucks” on Historic Hefang Street 🌸

On Aug 29, Starbucks opened an Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) concept store on Hangzhou’s historic Hefang Street—aka prime “stroll and sip” territory. ☕️ The new spot is Starbucks China’s fifth ICH store and the first in Zhejiang, and it’s a Starbucks Reserve location too.

The café lives inside the nearly century-old Zhang Yunsheng Department Store, part of the famed “Four Corners” intersection—think retro Western façades meets Song-dynasty vibes.

Theme of the house: hangluo (Hangzhou leno gauze), a gossamer silk weave with deep local roots. Look up for floating hangluo installations and peek at the handloom on the first floor; the craft itself was listed as a national ICH item in 2008. 🧵✨

Beyond the looks, the store pours two themed specialty drinks inspired by indigo dyeing and hangluo, plus limited merch—continuing Starbucks’ China push to spotlight traditional crafts through its ICH concept program.

Local chatter? Some are calling it “Hangzhou’s most beautiful Starbucks.” Others are just here for the latte-and-history mashup. We’ll allow both.

(What’s hangluo? A super-airy open-weave silk native to Hangzhou—basically fabric that feels like a breeze.)
