Xiaohongshu Launches "Life Trial Operation" Youth Campaign With TVC and Offline Activation

Xiaohongshu launched a youth campaign themed "Life Trial Operation" on September 26, combining a TVC, online content, and an offline utopia activation.

Xiaohongshu (小红书), operating under the campaign brand RED School, launched a youth-focused initiative themed "Life Trial Operation" (人生试营业) on September 26, 2026, promoted via WeChat. The campaign targets post-05 generation youth — those born after 2005 — and invites them to explore multiple life possibilities under the framing of being "life drifters."

The campaign combines an online component with an offline utopia activation, where participants can step into experiential scenarios designed to simulate trying out different life paths. A TVC titled "The Absurd Trial Opening" (《荒谬的开试》) anchors the creative work, lending the campaign a tone that leans into uncertainty and openness rather than conventional aspiration.

The activation reflects a broader pattern visible in Chinese youth marketing: platforms and brands framing young people's identity exploration not as anxiety to be solved, but as a condition to be embraced and even celebrated. Xiaohongshu, as a platform whose community skews young and lifestyle-oriented, is well positioned to host this kind of identity-adjacent messaging. The offline utopia element adds a physical layer to what might otherwise be a purely content-driven push, giving the campaign a participatory dimension that online channels alone cannot replicate.
