McDonald’s Teams Up with Black Myth Wukong for Mid-Autumn Festival

From September 23 to October 21, over 7,100 McDonald’s outlets will get in on the fun.

From September 23 to October 21, over 7,100 McDonald’s outlets will get in on the fun. Pop-ups are sprouting in major cities like Shanghai (West Bund Dome), Beijing, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Changsha and more.

What’s on the menu? A whole mythic mash-up: among the food drops are the Cheese Double Beef Black Gold Mooncake (yes, black burger bun vibes), Golden Crispy Chicken Egg Mooncake, also shrimp nuggets + curly fries with a treasure-gold dipping sauce. Drinks and desserts get upgrades too (McFlurry etc.).

Beyond food: merch is part of the package — there’s a homewear piece (a lounge-robe style), T-shirts, pins, etc. Some stores are even decorated in Wukong style.

Netizen Reactions / Flavor

Many fans are hyped, calling it “culture-soft power done right” — Wukong meets fast food, what’s not to love.

Some are skeptical: “Black burger buns? What if it tastes weird?” or “This is cool for a week, but I want more lasting stuff.”

Others are already worrying about stock running out — limited period, limited merch, classic McD’s flex.
