IKEA and Xbox Launch Nine-Piece YXSTABY Furniture Collection at Gamescom 2026

IKEA and Xbox have unveiled the nine-piece YXSTABY collection, translating thumbstick and D-pad designs into furniture, debuting at Gamescom 2026.

IKEA and Xbox have jointly developed the YXSTABY (西斯塔比) collection, a nine-piece line of furniture and home accessories that translates familiar Xbox controller elements — thumbsticks, D-pads, and their associated textures and movement logic — into everyday domestic objects. The range debuts at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne.

The centrepiece is a stool modelled directly on an Xbox thumbstick: designers scaled up the controller's original 3D model to furniture dimensions, replicating its diamond-pattern grip texture and replicating the tilt dynamics of the physical component. Other pieces include a D-pad-shaped cushion, a high-gloss stainless steel shallow dish, a mirrored display case, a wheeled TV cabinet, a leisure chair with a mesh storage bag, a mobile side table with dedicated compartments for controllers and charging equipment, a monitor stand, and a laptop stand. Designers from both companies conducted home visits with working gamers, observing how devices are actually used across living rooms, bedrooms, and shared spaces.

Promotional material for the collection features Overwatch characters Tracer and Lúcio set in a living room furnished with YXSTABY pieces. IKEA cites a global gaming audience of more than three billion players as context for the collaboration. The collection also marks Xbox's 25th anniversary; IKEA references over 80 years of home-living experience as its complementary credential.

The partnership positions gaming hardware aesthetics as a legitimate design language for the home rather than a niche novelty — a move that reflects the mainstreaming of gaming as a domestic lifestyle category. The Crocs and Pokémon 30th-anniversary collection, covered previously by China Insider, followed a similar logic of elevating a gaming or entertainment IP into a wearable everyday object, suggesting appetite for this kind of crossover remains strong among brands marking milestone anniversaries.
