Chongqing is now home to China’s biggest cat rescue park — and this isn’t just a cute weekend attraction. The Firefly Harbor Cat Theme Park along Nanbin Road spans about 30,000 square meters and currently houses 600+ rescued stray cats 😺

What makes it stand out? Care comes first, always.

Every cat goes through a strict rescue process before entering the park: professional medical treatment, vaccinations, and neutering. After that, they’re grouped scientifically based on health and personality. Friendly, social cats stay in open interaction zones where visitors can meet them, while elderly, weak, or post-surgery cats rest in quiet retirement areas to avoid stress and overstimulation.

The park employs more than 40 full-time staff, including licensed veterinarians and trained caretakers. Daily health inspections, temperature checks, diet monitoring, and behavior observation are routine. There’s also an independent medical zone to handle emergencies from the start.

Design-wise, safety is intentional: angled fencing and transparent barriers prevent escapes and unsafe feeding, automatic water systems ensure 24-hour clean hydration, and antibacterial bowls maintain sanitary meals. Each cat even has a digital profile visitors can scan to view its rescue history and health data, making adoption traceable and responsible.

Instead of depending on donations, the park runs on a “park sustains the cats” model — ticket and interaction revenue fund food, medical care, and maintenance. If it works long term, this could become a scalable new solution for urban stray cat welfare 🐾
