Yang Binglin, known online as “Game Grandpa,” is a Chinese retired petroleum engineer from Fuzhou who became a viral gaming creator on Bilibili. After retiring in 1996, he picked up video games and gradually became a hardcore console gamer, playing titles like Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2, Sniper Elite, and Black Myth: Wukong.
In 2024, he was recognized by Guinness World Records as the oldest male gaming streamer at 88, and in 2025, he refreshed the record at 90 while also receiving a Guinness World Records 70th anniversary ICON honor. Reports say he owns more than 500 game discs and has played across generations of PlayStation consoles.
Most recently, he went viral again after completing Resident Evil Requiem at 91, reportedly using handwritten notes and maps instead of online guides. Fans love him not just because of his age, but because of his discipline: he usually plays in moderation, treats gaming as brain exercise, and says he wants to keep playing as long as his eyes allow.
Honestly, this might be the most elite retirement plan ever. No golf. No boring TV. Just boss fights, handwritten maps, and pure main-character energy.
